We don’t all fit the mould. Not everyone is cut out for climbing the corporate ladder - at least not throughout life. I’ve seen firsthand how the experience economy offers a whole new approach to building a fulfilling career while achieving other objectives for one’s life, such as those on my bucket list (more about that in future).
Rather than following a traditional corporate path, the experience economy has allowed me to focus on creating memorable moments and connections that create lasting impressions. Working in environments where adventure, personal connection, and fulfilment are at the core has been incredibly rewarding, and I’ve had the chance to thrive in ways I never imagined.
Over the years, I’ve held roles that took me everywhere – from working on cruise ships to guiding tours and instructing adventure activities. And I’ve met others along the way – travel bloggers, influencers, photographers, diving instructors, and expedition leaders – all of us driven by the same purpose: to have and shape experiences that resonate long after the moment has passed. Whether capturing breathtaking scenes as a photographer or inspiring others as an instructor, I’ve found that this work enriches both my life and those around me.
The experience economy, at its heart, is about connection and growth. It’s a field where work becomes more than just a stepping stone – it becomes a canvas for unforgettable memories, for others and ourselves.
